What people say

Being abroad is a whole new level of independence, it's as great as being in college, but then just add traveling all over with your best friends! We go to a new country almost every weekend and also spend time exploring Prague after class. It's an indescribable adventure and it feels like such a privilege to be here and experience all these new foods, cultures, and places. COME TO PRAGUE!!!
So far the experience has been some of the most fun I've had in my entire life! Prague is beautiful, not too expensive, and feels like it's from a movie, it is right in the middle of Europe so travel is extremely easy! The classes are balanced and I am able to retain the information well, the professors are extremely nice, helpful, and understanding. The apartments are in such a great area and extremely nice, and it is so nice living with the friends I've made in the same building. I have made some of the closest friendships of my life already and I have only been here for a bit over a month!
Hi I’m Molly, I’m an American living in Prague since 2019 with my husband, Josh. I am your Program Manager, I am your resource on the ground in Prague. I’m here to answer questions and help make your transition to Prague as smooth as possible (as well as provide suggestions on things to do and places to go)! I love getting to see students experience the magic of Prague for the first time and help give them a local’s perspective. Any questions, just ask me!

Academics

Courses

The program includes seven (7) classes, which will transfer back to Virginia Tech.  There are three required core business courses. Additionally, there are three international business courses and a Czech culture course that count towards the International Business Minor, and the program fulfills the international experience requirement.

The first course will be taught daily for two weeks online before you depart for Prague. All other courses will be taught in-person in Prague. Two classes will be taught during each four-week module. Classes will generally run from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on each of those days. Your Czech class is 3:00-5:00 on Tuesday and Thursday for the first half of the semester. There is generally no class on Friday afternoons. Some evening lectures and excursions will also be held. Textbooks will be provided for you in Prague at no additional fee.

All students may register for up to 7 following classes (up to 21 credits):

  • FIN 3104 Introduction to Finance
  • FIN 4144 International Financial Management
  • MGT 3404 Principles of Management (on-line class before arrival to Prague)
  • MGT 4314 International Management
  • BIT 3414 Operations and Supply Chain Management
  • BIT 4474 Global Operations & Information Technology
  • Czech Language and Culture – IB minor credit; students may submit a Pathways Credit Review Request to request credit for Pathways Core Concept 2.

*The classes are offered through the Czech Technical University in Prague. They will transfer to VT as credit only (if you earn a C or better), but will not show up as part of your Virginia Tech GPA. You will have a transcript from CVUT, with its own separate GPA. Your CVUT GPA can be used on your resume and graduate school applications.

Feel free to contact Dr. Clevenger (jcleveng@vt.edu) if you have questions about the courses.
